We use our eyes in a variety of circumstances – seeing, learning and balance to name a few; so it’s important to keep our eyes healthy and strong and be aware of potential eye issues.

Some of the eye issues can occur from injury, near sightedness, far sightedness, pink eye and dry eye. We have some wonderful homeopathic suggestions to help with any eye issues and also to keep your eyes healthy.

Near Sighted Remedies (Trouble seeing far away)

Agaricus Muscarius – Can feel as if eyes are being pierced by needles, vision is often foggy, flickering of vision or double vision while reading and writing. Letters can appear to be ‘dancing’ and is helpful for near sightedness. Dark spots and colors obscure vision.

Carboneium Sulphuratum – Helpful for sudden visual disturbances, nearsightedness, blue and green color blindness, dark or absent patches of vision, objects seems distorted or distant, also helpful for double vision.

Euphrasia – Helpful for near sightedness, particularly if the issue arises after measles. Letters merge together and eyes feel as though they need to be wiped. Vision is dim in the evening and when viewing distant objects.

Ruta Graveolens – Helpful for nearsightedness that gets worse with close detailed work. Eyes feel strained in the morning, but vision is typically worse in the evening

Far Sighted Remedies.(Trouble seeing close up)

Calcarea Carbonica – Only sees half of object, sees flashes or flames in front of eyes, colors and shapes float before eyes particularly while reading.

Petroleum – Dim vision often accompanied by headaches, nearby objects seem blurred, objects appear to be trembling in front of their eyes.

Remedies for Strabismus

Alumina – glittering shapes when the nose is blown, sees halos around lights, spots and stars in front of eyes, dizziness, vision is dim while reading.

Cicuta Virosa - Objects seem to be moving backward or side to side sees spots and stripes in front of eyes.

Remedies for Squinting

Belladonna - Letters seem blurred, see the blue halo around objects, objects appear crooked and vision is worse after coughing, sees ‘snowflakes’ in the field of vision, sees illusions. Helpful for squinting.

Santonium – Wavering vision often accompanied by color blindness, objects appear to be dancing or flickering, causing the child to squint.

Dry Eyes

Aconitum – Sharp, tearing eye pain. Eyes ache and feel sore as if something is in them. Intolerance of light in the daytime and also while angry. Eyes feel as if there is sand in them can look inflamed and red.

Pink Eye

Apis Mellifica – Stinging, burning eyes that are puffy and pink. Eyelids may be stuck together. The person is irritable.

Hepar Sulph – Eyes feel sore and bruised. Eyes feel as if they are being pulled back into the head. Yellow discharge shuts the eyes, particularly in the morning.

Natrum Muriaticum - Helpful when eye lids become swollen with burning tears and a feeling that the eyes are bruised. The eyelids can stick together due to mucus or pus forms.

Pulsatilla – Pink eye with itchy discharge that is often accompanied by a cold or the measles. Needs cool, fresh air.

Sulphur – Helpful for red irritated eyes that burn with sticking pains and a nagging itch. Eyes are bloodshot or red. Sensitivity to light.

Remedies for Eye Injuries

Symphytum – Use when they eyeball has been bruised or injured due to a blow from a blunt object (a baseball bat for example).

Arnica – Great for black eyes

Hypericum – blood shot eyes due to an affliction of the eyelids such as excessive blinking. Helpful for eye pain, particularly after removing something from the eye – such as an eyelash.
