I'm often asked about autism by concerned parents. Autism is a complex and complicated syndrome. Many families are convinced that the blame lies with vaccines. Other possible factors include medications, environmental toxic pollutants, ultrasound in pregnancy, Pitocin during childbirth, antibiotics, and chemical toxins in our food and water.
Autism is a severe developmental disorder that begins at birth or within the first three years of life. Most autistic children are perfectly normal in appearance but spend their time engaged in puzzling and disturbing behaviors markedly different from those of typical children. Less severe cases may be diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) or with Asperger's Syndrome. These children typically have normal speech but suffer from social and behavioral problems.
Symptoms vary enormously from child to child, from mild to severe. Autism occurs much more frequently in boys than in girls, and it used to be thought that autism is just a fate that you have to accept.
The good news is that there are now a wide variety of treatment options which can be very helpful. As the mother of a child with autism, CEASE therapy, and other homeopathic approaches have been the most helpful. This is true in my clinical practice with other children as well.
What are the core symptoms of autism?
- Impaired Social Interaction
- Impaired Communication
- Restricted Interests
- Repetitive Behaviors
Because multiple areas and functional systems in the brain can be affected, they can have overlapping symptoms with other disorders as well. Many autistic individuals have symptoms of sensory overload to sound, light, texture, and tastes. Commonly, autistic individuals can have varying degrees of symptoms of ADHD or ADD (poor focus, hyperactivity, impulsive behavior) even though the primary diagnosis is autism.
Diagnosis is based on a cluster of behavioral symptoms, although the symptoms are neurologically based. The diagnosis of autism itself does not provide answers to the origin of the causative factors.
The autistic individual doesn't choose to be socially disconnected; it is a byproduct of systems in their brain being shut down, disconnected, and blocked. This can result from too many slow brainwaves causing under-functioning, or too many fast brainwaves causing over-stimulation and chaos in the brain.
- Autistic patients who are emotionally over-reactive or throw tantrums will typically show abnormal functioning in the right temporal lobe. Language deficits show up in the left areas of the brain. Emotional expression deficits commonly show up in the right frontal region.
What are the real causes of autism?
By and large, the medical community still promotes the belief that autism is a genetic brain disorder, and as such, there is nothing you can do to reverse it. Nothing could be further from the truth. Intensive research continues to prove it is caused by a combination of some pretty horrendous things, and you can do something about it, even reverse it.
Vaccinations and medications may cause 70% of autism.
Vaccines contain a slew of toxins, often including mercury and aluminum which flood the body of an infant or child. These toxins completely overwhelm the child's ability to excrete it from his or her little body. With undeveloped immune systems, babies and young children simply cannot handle the toxins and pathogens in vaccines. Even adults have problems with vaccines, such as heavily marketed flu vaccines. Vaccines introduce more toxins into a child than he or she can get rid off. As a consequence, the toxins get stored in cells. This toxic buildup prevents the brain from functioning properly and may lead to autism or other neurological disorders.
According to the CDC's own website, common ingredients in vaccines include:
- Antibiotics, which many children are allergic to
- Aluminum which can, if there is a silicon deficiency, cause brain conditions like those exhibited in Alzheimer's disease
- Formaldehyde, a highly toxic carcinogen
- Monosodium glutamate or MSG, a potent excitotoxin capable of causing seizures, brain tumors and more
- Egg protein, which can cause a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction
- Sulfites, which can cause allergic reactions
Some researchers point the finger at the hepatitis B vaccine as a major cause of autism. Others point to the MMR vaccine as a major cause. Both are potential causes, for slightly different reasons as well as many other vaccinations routinely given to infants and children.
The hepatitis B vaccine is especially dangerous because the baby is so young when exposed. As many vaccine experts point out, giving the hepatitis B vaccination to newborns, as is done now, makes no sense at all because a newborn's immune system is not developed. Infants can't produce an immune response to the vaccine. Vaccines are designed to stimulate the immune system, but in newborns, there is nothing for the vaccine to stimulate, so it does no good. All it is good for is making plenty of money for drug companies, for doctors who administer vaccines, and unfortunately, for causing autism.
Four major underlying conditions found in every autistic child
- Toxic overload
An overload of toxins disrupts normal brain function. This eventually initiates an autoimmune response where the immune system attacks the brain and nerve cells, as it tries to get rid of the toxins.
- Damaged Mitochondria
The mitochondria are the energy-producing section of human cells. When damaged by toxic overload, the mitochondria in brain cells are not able to produce energy, and brain cells die. An autistic child has many dead or poorly functioning brain cells where the toxic overload was not quite so great, and the mitochondria are producing energy at a minimal level.
Fortunately, these poorly functioning cells can be detoxified and their mitochondrial healed so they can produce more energy.
- Worn-out Immune System
Autistic children suffer from immune dysregulation, the autoimmune response mentioned previously. It means that their immune systems do not respond normally. The overload of viruses or bacteria wears out the portion of the immune system that is supposed to kill pathogens; it becomes weak and is unable to get rid of them. Then the inflammatory side of the immune system tries to take over. Unfortunately, this side is not supposed to kill pathogens and does a poor job of it. This causes chronic inflammation which destroys or injures the infected myelin sheath.
Immune dysregulation is also apparent in the gastrointestinal health of children with autism. Most suffer from symptoms ranging from diarrhea, constipation, gas, and bloating to intestinal lesions and inflammation of their gastrointestinal systems. This is also partly caused by Candida yeast infection.
- Damaged Myelin Sheath and Exposed Nerves
The myelin sheath is an insulator which protects our nerves from electrical impulses, while simultaneously causing those impulses to travel faster. The myelin sheath surrounding and protecting nerves becomes damaged by viruses introduced into the body by vaccination, or by the Lyme disease bacteria (if a child has been exposed to it).
Because there are many opinions as to the causes of autism, consider the following overall choices for optimal healthcare and prevention. Our goal is to support and facilitate your family's healthcare needs!
· Natural Pregnancy and birth. Your child's life begins in utero. Nowadays, your baby is bombarded with stimuli such as ultrasound and amniocentesis. The womb is no longer a safe haven! The risks of ultrasound include increased learning disabilities, epilepsy, delayed speech development, and dyslexia. With regards to childbirth, the synthetic hormone Pitocin is commonly used by Obstetricians to induce labor contractions.
· Breastfeed when possible, ideally for more than a year. Reasons to Breastfeed include creating a stronger immune system, less chronic disease, less obesity, improved vision, nutrients for brain growth and development, improved bonding, and sense of well-being.
· Eating healthy. Eat fresh organic food, locally bought and in season. Eat more greens instead of refined sugars and processed foods.
· Choosing alternative healthcare. When possible, employ natural medicine and homeopathy to treat simple colds, ear aches, and chronic conditions. We are now one of the largest nations in overuse of antibiotics. Antibiotics can lead to an overgrowth of yeast (candida) in the body, which can create havoc in the gastrointestinal system.
· Choosing the right products. When possible, minimize exposures to toxins even before pregnancy. Consumer products from baby bottles to shampoo can also be toxic. BPA (bisphenol A), a chemical used by manufacturers has been linked to cancer, hyperactivity, miscarriage, obesity, and reproductive problems. Concerns about toxins being linked to autism are becoming more apparent in the news. Please check out this website for more natural and safe products for your family: www.safecosmetics.org
· Vaccines. I have met many parents who claim their child has never been well since inoculations. Choosing whether or not to vaccinate their children is the biggest challenge faced by many parents today. Please educate yourself about the pros and cons of vaccination before proceeding.
If your child was already vaccinated and has taken medication like antibiotics, antifungals or any other medications the toxic imprints of these accidental layers or so-called “iatrogenic diseases” can be safely removed with CEASE therapy. To find out about CEASE therapy, click here or on the "CEASE THERAPY" tab.
